This food truck appeared out of nowhere. It is clean, modern, and new. The man at the wheel is Chef Bruno. Local fresh ingredients are sourced to produce top notch food. When a chef challenges you, if you don’t love his food he will not charge you, that is a sign of either an egotistical maniac, or a man very secure in his food. Chef Bruno and his sous chef Dustin makes no excuses for their boldness. These boys can throw down.
On their recommendation, I dove into the Chicken and Waffle challenge. OMG! The chicken was moist tender and lightly battered with bone in. Yes bone in! Chef recommends bone in for full organic flavors. He was so on the money. Local ricotta and chives waffle was amazing. Baconned brussel sprouts added a very spruced up surprise to this dish. Maple balsamic drizzle was ever so light yet so fulfilling. Simple chicken and waffles, not your grand mama chicken and waffles.5 Gastronomy’s team has classed up the simple chicken and waffle yet delivered in a very approachable way.
Sweetness ain’t got nothing on these fellas. The Croissant Bread Pudding is in a whole category by itself. Since I literally drove over this truck on my way from picking up other take out, I brought all the food home. Chef recommended that I pop the bread pudding in the microwave for 20 seconds before eating. Upon opening the microwave I was hit in the senses with a strong wafting of sweet goodness. Banana, raisins, and branding caramel came gushing out and filled my entire kitchen. I think the dog even barked. Nibbling at this perfumed piece of sinful bliss was simply put an assault on the 5 senses. Oh, the Chocolate Bark consisting of walnuts, dried cranberries, crystallized ginger, citrus and vanilla bean marshmallows was food for the gods. It cracked like a tree bark and wrecked havoc on the senses.
In the sea of food trucks rolling onto the food truck scene in Orlando recently, 5 Gastronomy is set to make a quiet but powerful statement. It does not take a giant splashy menu to wow and entice the food truck craved Orlando crowds. A selected handful of items seems underwhelming but wait for the presentation. They over deliver on quality, presentation, and taste. Food done right! I can’t wait to try the rest of their menu. You should experience this truck.
