Starting the year off right with friends, family, and my dog was a no brainer at Yellow Dog Eats. The crowd was sizable with a line wrapped around the dining room and a wait to sit at the outdoor patio. Luckily, pulling into this laid back restaurant distresses and slows you down. This really is a relaxed place. Everything is just slower and nicer.
There was happy commentary over the loud speaker from Chef Fish, as he calms, directs, and motivates the staff and guest. It is a riot at times. But in true hospitality fashion, when a guest walked in and walked right back out, Chef Fish went right behind them. In a minute, they were back in the restaurant nursing two beers, large smiles and at the back of the line. That’s how its done. No one leaves. Especially unhappy. It may seem like mayhem, but there is acute attention to service and ensuring that everyone is having a good time, albeit a little louder.
Full Rack of Ribs with Gold Sauce – Tender, juicy, fall off the bone goodness.
Club Elvis – Pulled pork topped with thinly sliced bacon, Gouda cheese and fried onions, on a bun with coleslaw and chips. The pulled pork by itself is just dirty sick, add the rest of these amazing toppings and holy, messy goodness!
Classic Yellow Dog Club – Honey mesquite turkey coupled with smoked Gouda cheese, and layered with crunchy apple wood smoked bacon, lettuce leaf, orange-cointreau mayo, and crunchy cucumber rings on a multi-grain bread. Definitely, one of the safer sandwiches here. Very good combination.
Mandarin Orange Cupcake – soft and tasty.
As usual, the dining experience was great. Everyone should make their New Year’s resolution to visit this restaurant at least once. Many more times if too stressed out!
