Relaxed casualness at Teak Neighborhood Grill

Teak Neighborhood Grill.

Us – “Hi, we would like to sit on the patio.” Since we had traveled with dog.

Server (inside restaurant) – “You can just sit yourself.”

We walked around the side of the restaurant with puke, from don’t know how long, dried on the walkway and found an empty table. After sitting and staring in space of 10 minutes with no attention, I approached the bar and asked for a menu.

Bartender – “Oh, you are sitting over there? I’ll send a server.”

I went back to my table. Another 10 minutes, server walks over and plops down menus.

Server – “Anything to drink?”

We hadn’t even looked at the menu yet, but placed an Iced Tea order.

Another 15 minutes, Iced Tea showed up. We were ready to order.

Wings was the order of the day.

Server – “Those will take 45 minutes.”

Okay then, we better order away.

DANNY‘S AWARD WINNING BEAN-LESS CHILI slow stewed angus beef, onions, roasted red peppers & fresh herbs & spices topped with tomatoes, red onion & cheddar/jack
cheese. Exactly like the first time I had this, spot on with a marvelous medley of flavors.

GRILLED TERIYAKI GARLIC HERB CHICKEN WINGS – 10 jumbo wings tossed with roasted garlic, fresh herbs & parmesan cheese served with celery sticks & blue cheese dipping sauce. This was supposed to take 45 minutes to cook. It came out in 15 minutes flapping around in a very watery sauce. Hardly any grilled taste.

SNAKE BITE – 1/2 pint of Angry Orchard with 1/2 pint of Guinness Stout. Angry Orchard is a cider, if you didn’t know. This drink came out way after my appetizer was served. However, I must say, this is a very nice combination. After sipping on that heavy stout, half way down the cider cleanses the palate.

STRIP STEAK – 10 oz NY strip steak topped with sautéed mushrooms & onions in a brandy cream sauce served with crispy potatoes & grilled asparagus. Ordered medium, came out done. Asparagus and potatoes were cooked well.

MEDITERRANEAN – Cucumbers, Tomato, Hummus, Mixed Greens, Fresh Mozzarella, Sundried-Tomato, Feta Sauce on Focaccia. Cooked to medium as was ordered. Everything you would expect from a burger supple, juicy, and huge. Flavors melted well together.

My first time here was a stellar glowing experience. On this occasion, I still had that nostalgic feel. The open patio still beckons and invites to have a very casual gathering. It still has that relaxed casualness that goes with being amongst neighbors and friends. The food still packs a punch. I was very excited with the beer mixology menu, which btw is connected to the “beer menu” link on the website and the beer menu on the mixology link. But, I left wondering and hoping it was an off night.
